Caring for the Land
At Cormiston Farm, we believe in a deep connection to the land and the historic steading that defines our heritage. Our commitment to sustainability is rooted in our care for future generations, ensuring that we meet the needs of today without compromising the world they will inherit. Every action we take is guided by a desire to preserve the natural beauty and ecological health of the Clyde Valley for years to come.

Water Conservation
Smart Facilities

Waste & Reuse

Renewable Energy
We utilize cutting-edge renewable technologies to power our farm and preserve the natural beauty of the Clyde Valley, creating a sustainable future for our community.
- Two 35 kW biomass boilers provide all hot water and heating for the farmhouse and guest spaces.
- Our systems run on sustainably sourced wood pellets, a clean and renewable energy source.
- A Gaia wind turbine generates fossil-fuel-free electricity to power the entire farm, barn, and domestic house.
- Real-time online monitoring and annual servicing ensure all systems run at peak performance.
- Any excess electricity generated by our turbine is fed back to the national grid.
Heritage Reimagined
We deeply value the heritage of the farm and its original steading, viewing the preservation of our buildings as a vital commitment to both our history and our future.
- Renovating the barn with natural, traditional, and reused materials, including wood, hessian, slate, and lime mortar.
- Utilising local stone and high-quality items reclaimed from other sites to ensure authenticity and low environmental impact.
- Following these same core principles in our ongoing renovation of the steading, ensuring every resource is valued and repurposed where possible.
At Cormiston Farm, our dedication to the land is a journey of constant improvement rather than a final destination. We are committed to an ongoing process of monitoring and reviewing our sustainability practices, always looking for subtle ways to refine our impact. While our investments in renewable energy and traditional restoration mark significant milestones, we remain focused on evolving our daily actions. Our goal is to meet the needs of today’s couples and guests while ensuring that the farm remains a thriving, natural haven for future generations.
